Description of adhesive
One-component polyurethane low-temperature adhesive is used as a binder for rubber and/or natural rubber crumb to create a high-strength, porous, resilient-elastic, abrasion-resistant and shock-resistant anti-slip coating.
The adhesive is specially designed for use in adverse weather conditions: at low temperatures from +5 °C and high humidity up to 85%.

Features
The surface of the rubber coating may turn yellowish from exposure to sunlight. A change in shade is not a sign of deterioration, loss of strength and durability.
Scope of application
- The temperature of the adhesive, crumb rubber, the surface of the base and the ambient air at the work site is from +5 °C to +30 °C.
- Relative air humidity - not less than 40% and not more than 85%.
Surface preparation
- Laying of crumb rubber pavements can be made on cement screed, asphalt concrete, boardwalk and natural soil. The surface of concrete or asphalt before application of coatings must be thoroughly primed, homogeneous, dry, free from contaminants that hinder adhesion.
- It is necessary to prime the surface with the primer "RPC Primer PU-RC (1K)" and wait 45-60 minutes for the solvent to evaporate. The primer is colored to visually show the primed and non-primed areas. After 45-60 minutes, evaluate the quality of the primed surface. Areas where the primer is completely absorbed should be re-primed. A crumb rubber coat should be applied while the primer is tacky. The approximate drying time of the primer is 3 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment.
Inadequate priming results in poor adhesion between the rubber coating and the substrate and, as a consequence, the formation of delamination from the surface. Primer consumption 100-400 g per 1 sq. m, depending on the type of surface.
When laying crumb rubber on natural soil, it is recommended to use a roll-up rubber backing or geotextile that allows water to pass through. - It is very important that the rubber (natural rubber) crumb is dry and dust-free, as this affects the quality of the coating and the consumption of glue.
Uses advised against
- Do not use on concrete substrates in the absence of waterproofing and vapor barrier, as well as in any other cases where there is a risk of capillary rise of moisture in the substrate.
- Residual moisture content of concrete bases should not exceed 4% (wt.), anhydrite and magnesia - 0.5% (wt.).
- Do not use on freshly laid bituminous surfaces, including freshly laid asphalt. Freshly laid asphalt has an oily surface. To remove oils, spray the asphalt surface with a degreasing agent, then rinse off the agent with a stream of water and dry.
Laying technology
- Load crumb rubber into mixer, add color pigment (if necessary). Stir for 15 minutes to break up lumps and distribute pigment.
- Add adhesive in the amount of 19-21% of the total mass of crumb rubber and pigment. Stir for at least 5 minutes. Material consumption per 1 sq.m. coatings 10 mm thick - 8 kg of black rubber crumb and 1.52-1.7 kg of glue.
- Spread the mixture of glue and crumbs evenly over the surface by hand or machine. Roll the spread mixture with rollers and paving compactors or with a laying machine. When working in an open area during the curing of the mixture, the ingress of atmospheric moisture on the surface of the coating is not allowed.
- Partial curing, after which pedestrian load on the pavement is allowed, occurs after 48 hours. Complete curing of the coating occurs in 5 days.
- After completion of work, the tool must be cleaned with organic solvents. Cured adhesive is removed from the instrument mechanically.
Problem resolution
- Crystallization of adhesive (loss of white flakes or clots) during storage at temperatures below + 15 °C. It is necessary to heattheglue to + 60 °C and stir for 1 hour.
- Formation of a polymer film on the adhesive surface. It is necessary to remove the film and stir the adhesive.
- Excessive foaming of the adhesive due to moisture ingress. Dry the crumb and base.
- Insufficient adhesion to the surface. It is necessary to remove the poor-quality coating, dust the surface of the base, clean it of debris, apply a primer, reapply the mixture of adhesive and crumbs.
Safety precautions
It is imperative to use personal protective equipment when working: respiratory protection, special clothing that covers all parts of the body, gloves, shoes. Provide good ventilation in closed rooms.
Storage Recommendation
Shelf life 6 months at a temperature of +15 - +30 °C without opening the barrels. If the material was not completely consumed, it is necessary to tightly close the container, wrap the lid with stretch film. When reopening, a polymer film may form on the surface, it must be removed and the material thoroughly mixed.
